Jellied Apples

Peel apples and core but do not let the hole go right thro. Place them in a deep buttered dish and fill the centres with some cup custard, mixed with crumbled sponge cake and a tablespoonful of ground sweet almonds. Cover with greased paper and bake in a moderate oven til apples are soft, but still whole. Let them cool, then arrange in a glass dish and pour round and over them a lemon jelly. Leave to set before serving.
