Banbury cakes

  • 8 ozs flour
  • 4 ozs. sugar
  • 4 ozs. butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon allspice
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1½ teaspoon Baking Powder

Beat butter and sugar to a cream. Add dry ingredients with eggs time about. Add enough milk to make a soft batter, not too thin. Put into square cake tin and bake ½ hour in moderate oven.

When cold, ice over, and cut into squares.
