Scotch Currant Bun.

Paste:-
  • 3 Breakfast Cupfuls flour
  • ½ lb. margarine or butter
  • 1 teaspoonful baking powder
  • mix with water

Mixture for bun:-
  • 1 lb. flour
  • ½ lb. sugar
  • 2 lbs. currants
  • 2 lbs. stoned muscatel raisins
  • ¼ lb. mixed peel
  • ¼ lb. almonds (blanched)
  • ½ oz. ginger (ground)
  • ½ oz. cinnamon
  • ½ oz. Jamaica pepper
  • ½ teaspoonful black pepper
  • 1 small teaspoon soda
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 breakfast cupful milk to moisten

Cook for three hours at least.
