Scotch Currant Bun.
Paste:-
- 3 Breakfast Cupfuls flour
- ½ lb. margarine or butter
- 1 teaspoonful baking powder
- mix with water
Mixture for bun:-
- 1 lb. flour
- ½ lb. sugar
- 2 lbs. currants
- 2 lbs. stoned muscatel raisins
- ¼ lb. mixed peel
- ¼ lb. almonds (blanched)
- ½ oz. ginger (ground)
- ½ oz. cinnamon
- ½ oz. Jamaica pepper
- ½ teaspoonful black pepper
- 1 small teaspoon soda
- 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
- 1 breakfast cupful milk to moisten
Cook for three hours at least.
