Salt Fish Pie

  • ½ lb. salt fish (cold water to cover)
  • Sauce
    • Margarine (size of walnut)
    • ½ tablespoonful flour
    • 1 breakfast cup milk
    • seasoning
  • Covering
    • 8 tablespoonfuls mashed potatoes
    • tiny piece of margarine
    • little milk
    • seasoning

Wash fish thoroughly and soak in cold water for 12 hours. Cut off fins. Cut in pieces, and lay in stew pan covered with cold water. Bring slowly to boil and simmer until tender from 20 to 30 mins. Drain and remove skin and bones and flake down. Lay fish in greased pie dish and pour over sauce made as follows: - Melt margarine and add flour. Mix, then add milk by degrees, stirring and bringing to boil. Add ¼ teaspoon mustard. Heat up cold mashed potatoes adding a spoonful or two of milk. Pile on top of fish. Brush over with milk. Brown in oven.
