Down the steps to the chilly kitchen at the back of Dechmont Cottage... This website was started in 2002 as an exercise in learning HTML. However, it was completed in the spirit of a meditation on women, family, war. I have tucked the recipes into a small corner of a business website for distribution to the members of my family who remember those kitchen steps. It is, however, technically accessible to anyone with a browser and an interest in meally puddings anywhere in the world. If you are a historian with an interest in cookery in the North-East of Scotland or one of the tribe that was originally nourished on Free Kirk pudding and ginger sandwiches do let me know if you have found this site interesting.
